31-OCT-2018: 'Continuous Systemic Voter's Education' programme held in JNMC
Aligarh, October 31: As campaigning for the 2019 general elections is gathering steam, the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organised a 'Continuous Systemic Voter's Education' programme under guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI) and Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).
Inaugurating the programme, Prof S C Sharma, Principal, JNMC said that people are politically aware, but there is a need to convert awareness into votes through effective campaigns.
Coordinating with the students during the programme, SVEEP Committee Teachers-in-Charge, Prof Mubarak Hussain, Prof Abdul Waris and Dr Nafis Faizi said that the imperative of enhanced voter's participation in Elections is a serious assignment and SVEEP campaigns can create awareness to avoid a decline in voter's participation.
Prof Haris Manzoor Khan, Prof Shahid Siddiqui, Prof Farida Ahmad and Dr Nazia Tauheed actively participated to aware people on the importance of their participation in the electoral process.
Dr Abdullah Azmi and Dr Mehboob (Organising Member Coordinator) encouraged the young voters to exercise their franchise. Electoral Literary Club (ELC) student members, Sifat Tanveer, Sobia Manaal, Arham Khan, Hazique Jameel expressed their views on the necessity of exercising the right to vote.
Dr Nafis Faizi proposed the vote of thanks, while Afeefa Akhtar conducted the program. JNMC and Nursing School students and resident doctors attended the programme.
