15-NOV-2018: Institute of Ophthalmology to conduct Alumni Meet on Nov 17
Aligarh, November 15: Friends and classmates will travel from across the globe to reminisce memories and experiences of student days at their alma mater, Institute of Ophthalmology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for the Alumni Meet on November 17, where they will also be updated with the new state-of-art facilities and marvellous achievements of the Institute.
Prof Saiyid Nasir Askari, Director, Institute of Ophthalmology and Chairman of the Alumni Meet Organising Committee said that the Institute has been successfully conducting various types of surgeries in past many years. He pointed out, "In the year 2018, 517 Phaco and 579 SICS cataract surgeries, 29 vitrectomy and 11 RD retina surgeries, 644 OCT and 101 retina investigation techniques, 240 retina green argon laser procedures, 335 perimetry procedures and 35615 refractions have been done among other procedures and surgeries," said Prof Askari adding that the Alumni Meet will have discussions on these achievements.
Prof Adeeb Alam Khan, Organising Secretary, Alumni Meet said that the alumni will also get to see the new facilities at their alma mater. "The institute is equipped with facilities such as Optical Coherence Tomography, 532 S Green laser, Automated Perimeter, CCT Corrected NCT, USG B-Scan, IOL Master, High Speed Vitrectomy, Radio Frequency Cautery, latest video and still photography documentation Slit Lamp and Web Lab for residents with other facilities," said Prof Khan. He informed that the institute has also organised 10 updates on topics related to glaucoma and retina and eight eye relief and surgery camps recently.
"Alumni from USA, UK, KSA, Oman, Qatar, UAE and various parts of India are attending the meet," informed the organisers.
The alumni will attend scientific programmes, interactive sessions and cultural programmes during the meet. They will also visit the Institute of Ophthalmology, other places in JNMC and AMU during the function.
AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor, who is also the Chief Patron of the Alumni Meet will attend the inaugural function as the Chief Guest, while Dr Anil Tara (Consultant and CEO, Indira Gandhi Group of Eye Hospitals, New Delhi) will be the Guest of Honour.
Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof M H Beg is the Patron of the programme and Prof S C Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Medicine is the Co-Patron.
