World Diabetes Day celebrated with the theme ?The Family and Diabetes?
Aligarh, November 16: To mark the World Diabetes Day, the AMU?s RHTC (Jawan) celebrated the day under the supervision of Prof Ali Amir (Chairman, Department of Community Medicine), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). This celebration is as per the norms of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), with the objective of raising awareness of the impact that diabetes has on the family and to promote the role of family in the management, care, prevention and education pertaining to the widespread desease.
Dr Arshiya briefed about the disease and Dr Pawan Kumar stressing on life style modification , gave a talk on Health where he explained about the normal carbohydrates metabolism and function of body when it takes food as fuel , pathophysiology of diabetes and its kinds, symptoms, prevention, complication and control. He also briefed about symptoms of hypoglycaemia.
Dr Uzma Eram (Incharge, RHTC, Jawan), Dr Tabassum Nawab (Assistant Professor), Dr Arshiya Moin, and Dr Mehnaz (Jr Resident), also participated in the health talk and briefed about the disease.
Dr Pradeep (Intern), Zakiya Sultan, Tauseef Ahmed, Amir Syed Ali, Naresh Yadav, and Danish (Medico Social Workers) took active participation in the event.
The programme witnessed healthy gathering of middle aged and elderly citizens.
In an interactive session, the audience too shared their experiences and emphasized the importance of meditation in reducing stress and importance of millets as a good diet.
