16-NOV-2018: Dept of Mechanical Engineering starts workshop on 'Reactive and Non Reactive Systems'
Aligarh, November 16: The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University today started a five-day workshop on 'Reactive and Non Reactive Systems' to provide participants with hands-on-training on new innovations.
Attending the inaugural function as the Chief Guest, Prof D P Mishra (Department of Aerospace Engineering, IIT Kanpur) said that as India's fuel demand rises every day, it is important to not only take steps to overhaul a policy framework encompassing the entire energy value chain for ensuring energy security for the country, but also to reduce carbon emissions.
"There is a need to understand how to go about the use of Reactive and Non Reactive Systems. Advances in renewable energy, electric vehicles and hybrid technology have led to significant reductions in emissions and improvements are being made in biofuels, organic photovoltaics and hydrogen cars," he pointed out.
Prof Badrul Hasan Khan (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology) emphasised that applications of Reactive and Non Reactive systems are vast and continuously changing and this is evident from the state of the art technologies employed in steady/non-steady aerodynamics, rotary systems, thermal radiation and convection, hydrodynamics to name a few.
Prof Mirza Faisal S Baig (Chairperson, Department of Mechanical Engineering) spoke on multiphase flow in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and the branches of fluid mechanics that use numerical analysis and data structures to solve and analyze problems.
Prof S Shahood Alam (Chief Coordinator) delivered the welcome address, while Prof Mohammad Faizan conducted the programme. Dr S Fahad Anwar (Chief Coordinator) proposed the vote of thanks.
