17-NOV-2018: AMU Physics Prof appointed as IUPAP Member
Aligarh, November 17: Acclaimed nuclear physicist, Prof Mohammad Sajjad Athar, Department of Physics, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been appointed as a Member of 'International Union of Pure and Applied Physics' (IUPAP), which is chaired by Nobel Laureate, Prof Takaaki Kajita, Institute for Cosmic Ray Research (ICRR); Dr Manfred Lindner, German physicist and Director at the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg and Dr Nigel Smith.
The IUPAP has set up an 'International Neutrino Panel' with the responsibility to promote international cooperation in the development of an experimental program to study the properties of neutrinos and to promote international collaboration in the development of future neutrino experiments.
Prof Sajjad Athar has been working in collaboration with the scientists at Instituto de Fisica Corpuscular, University of Valencia, Spain and the ICRR, University of Tokyo. He is a member of NUSTEC collaboration consisting 25 theorists and experimentalists from all over the world, India based Neutrino Observatory Collaboration and DUNE Collaboration, Fermi Lab, USA.
