21-NOV-2018: Seeratun Nabi programme held with fervor
ALIGARH November 21: Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor today paid glowing tributes to Prophet Mohammad (SAW) at 'Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi' programme held at the Kennedy Auditorium. He said that Prophet Mohammad (SAW)'s life stands as a role model for the entire humanity as he stood for all that mitigated the human suffering at all levels and it unmatched in the world.
In his presidential address, Prof Mansoor said that the Holy Prophet (SAW) by displaying an exemplary kind of character spread his message throughout the world and won the hearts within a short span of time after the pronouncement of his prophet-hood.
"Prophet Mohammad (SAW) taught society a pious way to lead the life and upheld justice, human rights and compassion as the noblest ideals to pursue", said Prof Mansoor while making a special reference to the Hudaibiya agreement. He said Prophet Mohammad (SAW) spent life in a completely transparent manner and he always displayed what he was inside.
Prof Mansoor said that women should be treated equal and special programmes should be launched for their education and empowerment.
AMU Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof M H Beg was also present on the occasion.
In his address, Maulana Tahir Madni, Rector, Jamiatul Falah, Bilariaganj, Azamgarh, said that Aligarh Muslim University has a rich tradition of love and respect for the Prophet (SAW) and Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of this institution, went to England and wrote a strong critique on Sir William Muir's book, which was published as "Khutbat-e-Ahmadia".
He stressed upon following the teachings of Holy Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (SAW) and appealed to the people to promote qualities of unity, forgiveness, tolerance, religious forbearance and harmony among themselves as the same are the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (SAW).
Maulana Madni urged the researchers and scholars to carry out studies on the various aspects of Holy Prophet's life with its wider implications on modern issues and challenges. He said that we need to look to the Holy Prophet's teachings for finding the most relevant solutions to our problems.
Maulana Nazim Ali Khairabadi, Maunath Bhanjan said that it is not enough to show our respect and love for the Holy Prophet (SAW) once in a year. Rather we need to follow his great teachings and adopt them in our lives for a pious and serene life. He said that we need to build a strong character and become a truthful Muslim presenting to the world an example of a model human being. He profoundly remarked that Allah loves those who love His messenger and imbibe his teachings in life.
Earlier, Prof Touqueer Alam Falahi, Dean, Faculty of Theology and Nazim-e-Deeniyat welcomed the guests while Dr Abrar Ahmad conducted the programme. AMU Registrar, Mr Abdul Hameed, IPS, proposed a vote of thanks.
Earlier in the morning, AMU Vice Chancellor Professor Tariq Mansoor also inaugurated an exhibition of rare manuscripts of holy Quran, its translations and books on the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) at the Maulana Azad Library. The most important manuscripts of holy Quran included the one written by the fourth Caliph of Islam, Hazrat Ali (RA) in Kufi script and the other, written by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Other rare manuscripts included the Quran samples calligraphed by Mughal Princess Jahanara, Mughal queen of Jahandar Shah, Jeena Begum, Abdullah Khojandi and Abdul Baqui Haddad.
On the occasion, K A Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies organized a two-day exhibition of Islamic calligraphy art pieces made by the students of Department of Fine Arts and the Quranic Studies centre. Besides these, the exhibition included books on life and teachings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) which included ten books rendered by non-Muslim biographers of the Prophet (PBUH) such Sunder Lal, K L Gaba, Martin Lings, Chanderbhan Khayal, Thomas Karlyl etc.
