26-NOV-2018: Annual Get together of JNMC Ex-Faculty Veterans Association held
Aligarh, November 26: Speaking at Annual Get-together of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Ex-faculty Veterans' Association, the Chief Guest Prof Tariq Mansoor (Vice Chancellor, AMU), appreciated the formation of the society and emphasised that retired teachers should be involved and be more active as they are asset to the university with such a vast experience.
He asked the Principal and the Dean JNMC Prof SC Sharma to allot a room exclusively for veterans, which will be utilised for office purpose. Assuring all help in developing the society, he advised the members to hold a meeting at least once a month.
On the occasion Prof Mansoor felicitated Dr SK Bhargav by presenting memento in appreciation of National Best Teacher Award in Radiology conferred upon him by the Vice President of India.
Dr Bhargav in his address expressed gratitude for the honour and also discussed his career journey at JNMC and spirit of educating himself from the teachings of Sir Syed, the founder of AMU.
Dr Badrul Hasan in his presidential address discussed the mission statement of the association. He said, in the history of JNMC for the first time a surgeon is a serving Vice Chancellor, who is providing a surgeon healing touch to the university.
Secretary of the Association, Dr Mohsin Raza paid vote of thanks and suggested that Vice Chancellor being an ex-faculty, an honorary life membership be awarded to him. The very senior people who are blessings to the society, their potential must be utilised, he added.
On this occasion Pro Vice Chancellor Prof MH Beg and Prof SC Sharma, Dean and Principal were Guest of Honour, Prof YVS Gahlot the senior most Professor of Surgery who travelled from Rohtak was the special guest of honour.
A general body meeting was also convened in which Dr Abrar Hasan was chosen as the new Secretary after Dr Raza requested to discontinue as Secretary due to his other engagements.
The annual get-together and general body meeting was also attended by Prof Amanullah Khan (Joint Secretary), Prof Abrar Hasan, Prof Ashraf Malik, Prof Abu Qamar Siddiqi, Prof Azra Jilani, Prof Shajahan Bano, Prof Mohd Zahid, Dr Farzana Hadi, Dr CV Singh, Dr HL Gupta.
Earlier, Prof Tayyaba Husain (Treasurer) in her welcome address said that formation of this association is for mutual interactions and exchange, to connect retired faculty members with each other and to provide valued support to members.
