28-NOV-2018: AMU researchers author paper to discuss Holy Ramadan period's effect on stock markets
Aligarh, November 28: Aligarh Muslim University's Department of Business Administration, research scholars, Areeba Khan and M Sarim with Mosab I Tabash, research scholar, Al Ain University of Science and Technology, UAE and Dr Asif Akhtar, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, AMU have authored a research paper on 'Examining Anomalies in Islamic Equity Market of the Emerging Economies', which discusses how the Holy Ramadan period effects the stock markets.
The paper published in the Scopus and Ebsco indexed journal, ''Economic Annals 1, Volume 170, Issue 3-4, September, 2018'' examines the Islamic calendar anomaly from 2010 to 2017 showing how the stock market results have slightly got better in every year through a data collected for the S&P Emerging Shariah Index.
The researchers have used the Jensen's alpha method measure, a risk-adjusted performance measure that represents the average return on a portfolio or investment to drive their conclusion.
