07-DEC-2018: AMU faculty participates in Police Symposium
Aligarh, December 7: Dr M J Warsi of the Department of Linguistics, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and a member of the National Police (Micro-Mission-2, Community Policing) in Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has been invited as the panelist for the National Symposium `Bridging the gap between Community and Police?A step towards De-radicalization`, held on December 3, 2018 at India International Centre, New Delhi. The daylong symposium was attended by the senior Indian Police Services (IPS) officers of different states.
Dr Warsi said that the probability that an individual will disengage or de-radicalize appears to be inversely related to the degree of commitment to the group or movement. Commitment can be measured in terms of affective, pragmatic, and ideological bonds. Every Policeman is a citizen in uniform and every citizen is a policeman without uniform?. This truism has assumed greater significance in today?s scenario where policing has become far more complex than what it was a generation ago.
