08-DEC-2018: National Symposium on Geriatric Care organized
ALIGARH December 8: The Department of Moalejat, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University organized a National Symposium on Geriatric Care in Unani Medicine. In his inaugural address, chief guest, Dr Mohd Sikandar Hayat Siddiqui, Director, Unani Services, UP urged the students to practice in Unani system of medicine and provide the patients with an alternate medical solution which is cheaper and dependable.
In his presidential address, Prof Syed Maudood Ashraf, former Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, AMU emphasised the need for carrying out extensive research in Unani medicine and make efforts to promote evidence based medicine system.
Earlier, Organising Secretary and Chairman of the Department, Prof Tanzeel Ahmad welcomed the guests and highlighted the relevance of geriatrics in today?s scenario. Organizing Chairman, Prof Abdul Mannan highlighted the significance of the symposium.
Prof Khalid Zaman Khan, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine said that the topic of the symposium is unique in the sense that the field of geriatrics is rarely touched upon by the researchers and it is hoped that this initiative will open doors for serious studies in this field.
Prof Syed Shakir Jamil, Department of Moalajat, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, Prof Abdul Mannan, Department of Moalejat, AMU and Prof Mohd Anwar, Department of Ilaj Bit Tadbeer, AMU, delivered lectures on different aspects of geriatrics. Delineating data and research work on geriatrics in Jamia Hamdard, Prof Syed Shakir Jamil emphasized the need for carrying higher research in geriatrics. Prof Mannan stressed that for a healthy life, one should manage his routine life as per the principles laid down in Unani Medicine and Prof Mohd Anwar highlighted the areas related to geriatrics in which Unani Medicine can excel.
Prof Misbahuddin Siddiqi, Co-organising Secretary thanked the guests and delegates while Dr Abdul Aziz Khan proposed a vote of thanks.
Presiding over the valedictory session, Prof Mohammad Hanif Beg, Pro-Vice Chancellor, congratulated the department for organising symposium on the significant subject and shared his experiences with the audience.
Prof Tanzeel Ahmad presented the report of the symposium while Dr Tabassum Latafat thanked the guests.
