10-DEC-2018: Prof Moied's contributions recognized
ALIGARH December 10: Prof S Moied Ahmed, Chairman, Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University attended the 66th National Conference of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISACON '18) held at Agra and acted as faculty and Instructor in the Cardiopulmonary resuscitation workshop-cum-course. This was the first course that has been conducted based on Indian Guidelines, organised under the aegis of Indian Resuscitation Council (IRC). The guidelines were framed by 5 eminent anaesthesiologists and Prof Moied was one of the lead authors in framing these guidelines.
Prof Moied also acted as the National Coordinator of the Difficult Airway Workshop. In his 15-member team there were 3 international faculties from Oman, 6 from AMU (Dr Abu Nadeem, Dr Farah Nasreen, Dr Shahna Ali, Dr Nadeem Raza, Dr Manazir Athar and Dr Muazzam Hasan), 2 from Baroda, 2 from AIIMS, 1 from Safdarjung Hospital and 1 from Himalayan Institute. It was 8 hours' workshop which had 3 sessions, the basic airway, the advance airway and the panel discussion on management of difficult airway patients. The basic and advanced airway management session comprised of didactic lectures, video clippings on live patients and hands-on training on the manikins. In the panel discussion, the experts discussed the way they manage the most difficult airway related cases. In the end the delegates were evaluated for the improvement in their knowledge in Difficult Airway.
Prof Moied delivered a lecture in the CME on ?Difficult to Intubate is Difficult to Extubate? and also chaired a session on Pro-Con Debate on Video Laryngoscope Vs Conventional Macintosh Laryngoscope. Dr Moied received the prestigious ISA President's Appreciation award for his contribution in the field of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. The award comprised a certificate and a memento.
