12-DEC-2018: Literary events held at UGC HRDC
ALIGARH December 12: To mark the National Education Day on birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of independent India, UGC Human Resource Development Centre, Aligarh Muslim University organized slogan writing and essay writing competitions for the Subject Refresher Course participants in which 40 university and college teachers from Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, West Bengal and UP took part.
Dr Shamir Babu EK and Dr Firduas won the first and second prizes respectively in English category, while Dr Mushtaq Sadaf, Dr Sarfaraz Ahmad Khan and Dr Amna Farooqui bagged the first, second and third prizes respectively in Urdu category. In Arabic, Dr Qamar Subhan, Dr Asghar Mehmood and Dr Naushad won the first, second and third prizes respectively.
Prof Akhtarul Wasey, President, Maulana Azad University, Jodhpur distributed the prizes.
Dr Faiza Abbasi, Assistant Director, UGC HRDC said that in all, 20 essays were received, while the participants wrote interesting slogans on the topic "Importance of Education" such as "Taleem Mayar Zindagi", "Taleem Hai Sha?oor-e-Hayat" and "Taleem Insaan Ki Teesri Aankh Hai".
Addressing on the occasion, Prof Abdur Raheem Kidwai, Director of the centre said that Maulana Azad was an eminent educationist, freedom fighter, politician and statesman but his contribution to scholarship and educational development needs to be explored through an insightful research.
