19-DEC-2018: AMU subscribes to TURNITIN software to check plagiarism
ALIGARH December 19: Taking notice of the genuine need of good plagiarism detection software for the students, research scholars, teachers and other academic staff of the Aligarh Muslim University, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Tariq Mansoor has sanctioned the requisite amount to subscribe TURNITIN, the world's most effective plagiarism detection solution. It has the world's largest online database collection of roughly over 20 billion web pages, over 220 million student papers and over 90,000 publications.
This academic initiative of the University would certainly benefit the entire research community of the campus and will go a long way in strengthening the quality of research publications, PhD thesis, dissertation, students' works, etc. This facility would be available centrally at Maulana Azad Library for the students, researchers and academic community of AMU.
This decision of Vice-Chancellor has come ahead of the UGC Regulations, which is still under consideration of MHRD. It is pertinent to mention that the University Grants Commission (UGC) has recently approved the UGC (Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Education Institutions) Regulations 2018.
The students and research community have welcomed this decision and appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for his commitment to promote quality of research output and academic excellence.
