08-JAN-2019: Usha Silai School Karyakaram concludes
Aligarh, January 8: Scores of women, who were earlier unskilled, can now look forward to sustained employment with and bright futures for their children. Thanks to the 'Usha Silai School Karyakaram' organised by the Centre of Continuing and Adult Education and Extension (CCAEE), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti (BGVS) of the National Literacy Mission Authority, which concluded with a certificate distribution in AMU, these women participants are now certified tailors.
The 'Usha Silai School Karyakaram' was running in 40 villages with a centre at the CCAEE.
Prof Mohammad Gulrez delineated important steps to bring socio-economic development with a focus on entrepreneurship. He highlighted the importance of providing skills to rural women.
"The training provided in the programme will give the participants an economic independence and help them to find their feet," said Dr Naseem (Department of Social Work). He also spoke on how personality development and social work are interlinked.
Professor Anwar Jahan (Former Vice Chancellor, Calicut University) said that it is important to keep working for the cause of education. Prof Anwar discussed contribution of Late Dr Seema, who served as the Director, CCAEE.
Dr Veena Gupta of BGVS pointed out that this training is a start that will help the participants to provide for their family. "It is important to take initiatives for the social development of the common people," she said.
Renowned social worker, Mr O P Sharma talked about the need of putting in hard work for the better of downtrodden section in general and girl education in particular.
Dr Aysha Munira Rasheed, Deputy Director, CCAEE proposed the vote of thanks during the certificate distribution ceremony, while Dr Shamim Akhtar conducted the program.
Ms Musharraf Jahan, Ms Mujahida, Mr Samra, Dr Sujata Devi and Mr Saleem also spoke on the occasion.
