10-FEB-2019: Vice Chancellor inaugurates new solar power plants
Aligarh, February 10: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor inaugurated new On-Grid solar power plants with the facility of net metering on the roof tops of Begum Sultan Jahan Hall; Ambedkar Hall, Units A and B and at its Annexe; new building of Dawakhana Tibbiya College; Frank and Debbie Islam Management Complex and Convention Centre (Opposite R M Hall).
These solar plants have been installed under the PPA scheme of the Solar Energy Corporation of India to increase the contribution of environment friendly sources for electricity requirement.
Vice Chancellor, Prof Mansoor appreciated the efforts behind these installations and commended the idea of utilizing parking areas for solar plants.
Dr Mohammad Rihan (Member-in-Charge, Electricity Department) said that the university has been contributing to the national solar mission and the national mission on environment protection through these initiatives.
He added that the installation of solar plants will also help students to learn the concepts of grid connected solar PV plants, the concept of net metering and the research challenges involved.
