05-MAR-2019: Workshop on Government e-Marketplace held at AMU
Aligarh, March 5: A workshop on Government e-Marketplace (GeM) was held recently at Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology ZHCET,(AMU). Pravin Kumar Wadwani, Business Facilitator (National Mission on GeM) was the main resource and spokesperson who gave an overview about various technical and operational aspects of GeM.
The Chief Guest on the occasion, Abdul Hamid (IPS), Registrar, Aligarh Muslim University discussed the aims and objectives of the GeM and elaborated upon the exercise to enhance transparency and efficiency in public procurement. GeM provides the tools of e-bidding, reverse e-auction and demand aggregation.
In his welcome address, the Finance Officer and the Convenor of the workshop, Prof SM Jawed Akhtar briefed the gathering about purchases through GeM by Govt users, which have been made mandatory by Ministry of Finance .
He said that most of the developed countries such US, UK, Germany etc are having their own National Public Procurement Portal (NPPP), in realisation of the same objective, the Indian Government has also proposed such portal in the budget 2016-17. AMU has implemented the same on 16 August, 2018.
All the University functionaries, Head of Departments, PAOs and concerned staff (buyer and Consignee) attended the workshop.
