12-MAR-2019: AMU Girl students donate blood to mark Women's Day
Aligarh, March 12: As various departments in the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) celebrated advancement of women's rights and gender equality to observe the International Women's Day, the Women's College Students Union (WCSU) in collaboration with the Blood Bank, Department of Pathology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) arranged something very special to mark the occasion. They organised a special blood camp, in which all donors were female students of the University.
Inaugurating the blood donation camp, renowned paediatrician, Dr Hameeda Tariq said that students should actively participate in these initiatives.
Appreciating the efforts of organisers and girl students for organising the camp, she added that it is hoped such camps will be organised every year on Women's Day and other occasions.
Prof Naima Gulrez (Principal, Women's College) said: "Women's Day should be celebrated in its truest sense and blood donation being such a noble cause will give more meaning to the celebrations."
Nida Akram (Former Vice President WCSU), Dr Saleem Mohamad Khan, Sana Habib (Cabinet Member, WCSU), Memoona Ansari (Secretary, WCSU), Furqan Ahmad (Former Secretary Eco Club), Sartaj Alam, Farha Rufi and Huma Khan also spoke on the occasion.
Dr Smriti Prasad, Dr Suhel Abbas, Dr Zikki, Dr Fatima and Dr Shamaila from the Department of Pathology with their team members conducted the camp.
