26-MAR-2019: National seminar held on Literary Trends of Contemporary Literature
ALIGARH, March 26: A two-day national seminar was organised by the Bengali Section of Department of Modern Indian Languages, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
The keynote speaker Dr Amitava Chakraborty department of MIL & LS, University of Delhi elaborated world literature with reference to Bengali literature.
The Chief Guest Nurul Islam ( Banga Bibhushan Awardee and the Director of Al-Amin Mission) , drew out the similarities between Al-Amin Mission and the Sir Syed Vision and also discussed leading poets of Bengal such as Rabindra Nath Tagore and Nazrul Islam.
Prof SN Zeba , Department of English and Prof Syed A Ali, Department of Geology were the Guest of Honours.
Padma Shree awardee and Honorary Treasurer, Prof Hakim Syed Zillur Rehman, described Bengali Literature as the most accommodative and richest literature in India.
A book titled Prabandho Sangraho: Bhawnar Nanadik, a compilation of essays was released on the occasion.
Prof Masud A Alavi the Dean Faculty of arts, praised the efforts of Dr Amina Khatun for her undying spirit of organising seminars and choosing burning topic for deliberation.
In his welcome address, Dr Tahir H Pathan, seminar coordinator, illustrated how Bengali department is flourishing in AMU while Dr Amina Khatun, the director of the seminar threw light on the theme of session , Literary trends of contemporary literature: East & West.
