27-MAR-2019: Free TB check-up camp for children during World TB Day observations
Aligarh, March 27: "Early diagnosis and proper treatment can cure a person of tuberculosis, which is still a major infectious disease affecting hundreds of thousands of people," said Prof Farzana K Beig (Chairperson, Department of Paediatrics and in-charge Pulmonology and ID Clinic) during a Free TB check-up camp for children organised by the Pulmonology and ID Clinic, department of paediatrics, J N Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) as a part of the week-long World TB Day observations.
She added that if there are regular occurrences of chest infections, severe cough, fever, night sweats, weakness and loss of appetite among children, then they should be investigated for tuberculosis immediately.
Prof Farzana threw light on advances made in tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment.
Prof S C Sharma (Principal, JNMC) distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions held during the week-long observations.
Prof Kamran Afzal, Prof M F Huda, Prof S F Haque, Dr Uzma Firdaus, Dr Ayesha Ahmad, Dr Iraj Alam Khan, Dr Shaad Abqari, Dr Rakesh Bhargava and Dr Ali Jafer Abedi also spoke on the occasion.
Free drugs were distributed during the camp.
