28-MAR-2019: Workshop on technical writing skills concludes
ALIGARH March 28: A two-month workshop on "Technical Writing Skills" organised by Centre of Continuing and Adult Education and Extension (CCAEE), in collaboration with the English Language Teachers' Association of India (ELTAI) Aligarh Chapter, concluded with a valedictory programme attended by Prof Zakia Ather Siddiqui as chief guest and Professor Emeritus Farhatullah Khan as the guest of honour.
Addressing the participants, Prof Zakia Ather Siddiqui shared memories of her association with the Centre. Appreciating the services rendered by the CCAEE in empowering the lower strata of society through educational means, Prof Siddiqui lauded the efforts of the Adult Education Centre and ELTAI for enabling underprivileged students partake in such learning projects.
Professor Emeritus Farhatullah Khan congratulated the organizers on successfully completing the workshop. He pointed out that while we often stress the need for improving speaking skills, efforts should also be made to learn how to write.
Earlier, welcoming the guests, Professor M Gulrez, Director, CCAEE, highlighted the success story of the centre while Professor Aysha Munira Rasheed, Deputy Director, CCAEE, and Principal investigator of the Project, read out a comprehensive report of the two-month long workshop. She said that 30 students were selected for the workshop on the basis of a test while the workshop was divided into different segments considering the need and level of the participants.
Prof Ayesha Munira Rasheed said that a number of resource persons engaged the participants during the event including Professor M Amirullah Khan (Basic Syntax I), Dr Sohail Ahmed (Basic Syntax II), Dr Zainab Sarwat (Basic Syntax III), Dr Kishwar Zafir (Basic Syntax Basic Syntax IV), Dr Sherin Shervani (Writing CV), Dr Mohammad Sharjeel Chaudhary (Making Presentation with multimedia), Dr Siddhartha Chakraborti (Preparing Resume), Ms Bushra Tazeen (Making Presentation without multimedia) and Ms Adiba Faiyaz (Letter Writing).
Ms Alisha Ibkar, Coordinator, ELTAI (Aligarh Chapter) and Co-Principal Investigator of the project, elaborated upon the activities of the Association towards the benefit of students.
Professor M Amirullah Khan and two student participants including Ms Aaraish Khalil and Mr Ibrahim Khan also spoke. On this occasion, participants were also given certificates and prizes for their achievements in different events. \
Dr Shamim Akhtar conducted the programme while Ms Musharraf Jahan proposed a vote of thanks.
