01-APR-2019: NSI launches Aligarh Chapter at JNMC
Aligarh, April 1: The Aligarh Chapter of Nutrition Society of India (NSI), a research organization of Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi has been launched at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) after a decision taken in a meeting attended by NSI life members at the department of community medicine, JNMC.
Prof M Athar Ansari, who has been appointed as the Convener of NSI Aligarh Chapter is also the Executive-Member of NSI Head Quarters and President of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine, Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand Chapter. Dr Saira Mehnaz has been given the charge of Co-Convener, NSI Aligarh Chapter; while Dr Ali Jafar Abedi has been declared as the Treasurer.
"The NSI Aligarh Chapter aims to strengthen research and field activities related to nutrition in pregnant and lactating women, women of reproductive age group, infants and children, adolescents and general population," said Prof Athar Ansari adding that the Aligarh Chapter will conduct demonstrations, surveys, health education sessions in hard to reach areas and laboratory investigations.
With headquarters at the National Institute of Nutrition, Jamia Osmania, Hyderabad, NSI is an association of nutrition professionals, programmers and policy makers from India and abroad dedicated to disseminate results of the latest research in nutrition.
