01-APR-2019: Oral and maxillofacial surgeons of Dental College remove enormous facial tumor
Aligarh, April 1: Twenty-year-old, Neeraj, a resident of Khurja in Uttar Pradesh has embarked on a new life after having an enormous 16 centimetres tumor removed from his face.
He underwent a four-hour painstaking, but successful facelift surgery to have the lump cut out at the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University after visiting many hospitals and clinics in the past one-year.
Neeraj's jaw was reconstructed to completely change his appearance using a titanium reconstruction plate.
Dr Sajjad Abdur Rahman with his team comprising senior resident, Dr Tabish and junior residents, Dr Anurag and Dr Huda conducted the surgery, while Dr Manazir Ather and his team provided the patient with high risk anaesthesia.
"Neeraj now leads a normal life and regularly visits the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery for follow ups. His life was difficult earlier owing to the facial deformity and disfiguring swelling in the jaw," said the team of surgeons adding that the patient was discharged one-week after the surgery.
Prof S S Ahmed (Chairman, department of oral and maxillofacial surgery) congratulated the doctors for the successful surgery.
