03-APR-2019: 'START UP AMU' workshop held
Aligarh, April 3: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Training and Placement Office-General in collaboration with Build Your Self Pvt Ltd organised a workshop, 'START UP AMU' at the conference hall, department of physics to aware students on the experience of creating a real company and finding mentors, investors, cofounders, and sponsors for it.
Speaking on the idea of a start up, resource person, Mr Akif Ahmad (Founder, Interest Aid Foundation) said that people need to contain enthusiasm when they come up with brilliant ideas. "Inspiring ideas appear in a variety of ways: some call for thoughtful discussion and analysis; others may require observation and quiet reflection while others may be born out of serendipity," he added.
Mr Syed Wasiul Abbas (President of BYS Pvt Ltd) spoke on the importance of skill development and why entrepreneurship is a better option. "Being an entrepreneur is amazing as you call the shots and make the decisions that ultimately determine the success or failure of your business and nobody will get in the way of your vision, you can assemble a team of like-minded individuals that share your same drive and passion and you can directly impact society by introducing a service or product that people use," he pointed out.
Talking on the challenges faced by entrepreneurs, senior business consultant, Dr Mohammad Zubair Ahmad said that every entrepreneur faces their own share of challenges, which also provide great entrepreneurial lessons when one overcomes them.
"Starting a new business at any age is fraught with risk and this shouldn't discourage you," emphasised Mr Ahmad.
Prof Rizwan Khan stressed the need of producing entrepreneurs from AMU. "AMU is like an ocean of ideas and once given the right platform, these ideas can do wonders," said Prof Khan.
Mr Saad Hameed (Training and Placement Officer-General) delivered the welcome address and informed that the best three ideas by participants of the workshop will be mentored and funded to become start ups by BYS Skills.
During the workshop students came up with innovative ideas such as Ozone Bike by Zishan Hassan and his team, Krish Company by Ananya Chauhan and Connect with Students by Tahir Ahmad and other ideas.
