06-APR-2019: AMU faculty delivers lecture in Lucknow
Aligarh, April 6: "Many drugs do not get approval for marketing and even the medicines authorised for marketing are monitored to know adverse effects," said Professor Syed Ziaur Rahman, Department of Pharmacology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) during his lecture on 'Safe Use of Drugs' at the Khateebul Iman Hall, Shia PG College, Lucknow.
He was delivering the lecture on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Shia PG College, Lucknow.
Speaking about the drugs withdrawn from market, Prof Rahman pointed out that it happens because of the shortcomings in clinical trials and reasons based on pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics.
He delineated factors leading to adverse effects and discussed what actually goes wrong during the absorption and distribution of drugs.
Prof Rahman also explained ways to dispose off expired drugs.
