06-APR-2019: Vice Chancellor releases Prof Masoodul Hasan's 'Maya-e-Khwesh'
Aligarh, April 6: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor released, 'Maya-e-Khwesh', a collection of articles and comments by late Professor Masoodul Hasan (1928-2019) of the department of English, who passed away recently.
On this occasion, Prof Mansoor said that the writings of Prof Hasan have left an indelible mark and will go a long way in academic performance of AMU.
The Vice Chancellor added that the department of English has produced stalwarts and it continues to nurture traditions of academic excellence.
Paying tributes, Nawab Ibn-e-Ahmad Saeed Khan of Chhatari (Pro Chancellor) and Professor Hakim Syed Zillur Rehman (Honorary Treasurer) said that Prof Hasan was a man of remarkable personal qualities and his service to AMU is unparalleled.
Prof A R Kidwai (Director, UGC Human Resource Development Centre) emphasised that 'Maya-e-Khwesh' is a significant contribution to literature. "Prof Hasan was a great teacher, who was gifted in English and Urdu literary prowess," he added.
Prof M Rizwan Khan (Chairman, department of English) spoke about the exemplary stature of Prof Masoodul Hasan in the literary discourse and his wide range of scholarship.
Prof Masoodul Hasan's son, Mr Naved Masood (IAS) attended the function.
Dr Faiza Abbasi (UGC HRDC) conducted the programme.
Haris Mansoor (Department of English, Research scholar) edited the book, which has been published by the Brown Book Publications.
Importantly, the Vice Chancellor wished that the department of English should institute an annual Prof Masoodul Hasan Memorial Lecture. This was taken note of by the Chairman, department of English.
