09-APR-2019: MANUU Vice Chancellor delivers lecture in AMU
Aligarh, April 9: "The Holy Quran repeatedly exhorts believers to acquire knowledge, both of God and of His creation. The Quran explains the mysteries and wonders of nature and asks us to ponder over or them because they reflect God's glory," said Dr Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice Chancellor, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad.
He was delivering the K A Nizami Memorial Lecture on 'The Need to Understand the Quran' organised by the Quranic Studies Forum, K A Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University held at the UGC HRDC Auditorium in AMU.
Explaining that the Quran is binding on human beings, Dr Parvaiz said that everything in the universe follows the divine law.
The Quran urges the believers to study nature, and positively encourages the promotion of science and a scientific attitude, he added.
Presiding over the function, AMU Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof Mohammad Hanif Beg emphasised that the Quran is for the entire humanity and not only for Muslims.
Prof Abdur Raheem Kidwai, Director, Centre for Quranic Studies delivered the welcome address, while Dr Faiza Abbasi, Assistant Director, UGC HRDC conducted the programme.
Retired faculty members, teachers, research scholars, students and members of the Quranic Studies Forum attended the lecture.
