15-APR-2019: AMU faculty delivers lecture at IIMS Lucknow
ALIGARH April 15: "Cheaper interventions like Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and immunization are increasingly being used as life saving measures and for disease prevention in community health care", said Dr Ali Jafar Abedi, Department of Community Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University in his lecture on 'Approach to studying Community Medicine' organised by IIMS, Lucknow. He was addressing the valedictory function of a programme organized to mark the World Health Day.
Dr Abedi said that in community medicine, emphasis is laid on early diagnosis of disease, recognition of social, environmental and occupational hazards to good health, and use of appropriate technology in preventing the community from diseases.
He said medical graduates needed to follow 'Why, How and What' model for learning skills.
Dr Abedi, along with Prof S E Mahmood (Head, Department of Community Medicine, IIMS, Lucknow), distributed certificates to winners of quiz competition.
