20-APR-2019: Recrufest 5.0 begins in AMU
Aligarh, April 20: As the academic year is nearing its end, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) students are looking for jobs and for that Recrufest 5.0 was organised by the AMU Students Union (AMUSU) in collaboration with the Training and Placement Office-General. The event showcased the skills of students to a host of multinational officials from Google, British Airways, Adobe, IBM, HCL, Reliance, Barclays, Zomato, PNB Metlife, Space India, Just Dial, Genpact, NIIT, ICICI, Freedom English Academy, MADS Tech, Cancer Aid Society, Silaris, Angel Broking, Glam Studio, Webbizz, Softnice and others.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the two-day, Recrufest 5.0, AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor said that since AMU is a residential university where students from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds live together, they learn team work easily.
Emphasising on the importance of entrepreneurship, Prof Mansoor said that it is a dynamic process of creating jobs, innovation and leaving an impact on community development besides creating incremental wealth.
"Entrepreneurs are action-oriented and highly motivated individuals with courage, who are enthused to achieve their goals," said the Vice Chancellor.
Attending the function as the Chief Guest, AMU alumnus, Mr Sanjeev Kumar (Co-Chairman, National Council for the Bond Market) pointed out that that to excel in life, one needs to keep honing skills and reaching the doors of perspective employers.
He urged students to prepare for marathons in their careers and to have long term goals.
Mr Kumar said that the Recrufest is an opportunity to socialise and revel in friendly competition with a plethora of job options.
Mr Gunjan Tripathi (Director, Operations and Business Development, Medhaj Techno Concept Pvt Ltd) said that his company is looking forward to hire students who can work very hard.
"Since AMU is one of the top-notch institutions of the Country, expectations of the employers will always be very high," he added.
Mr Nadeem Hussain (CEO, Marque Impex, Moradabad) urged students to become job providers and not only job seekers. "The startup programme and entrepreneurship is the guru mantra of the business world today. I am always advocating fusion of artism and conventional skills with latest technology for competing at International level," he said.
Mr Harmit Chawla (MD-H Corp Reality Pvt Ltd) said that there are times when even after gruelling months-long search, people don't land in their dream jobs. "But it doesn't have to be the disappointing ending as you need to settle for some other job and start earning and keep yourself enthused to find the perfect employment in the near future," he emphasised.
Reminiscing student life, AMU alumnus, Mr Shashi Bhushan Rai (Vice President, Reliance Jio Infocomm) said that there is no substitute to AMU. "The university life encouraged me to become independent, and provided me with the knowledge to survive in the competitive world," he said adding that there is a need to have AMU placement offices in various metropolitan cities.
Convener of the programme, Mr Huzaifa Amir Rashadi (Honorary Secretary, AMUSU) said that Recrufest is a merger of recruitment and festival, which means that it is a recruitment drive in the form of a festival.
He added that the two-day programme will connect AMU students with the best multinational companies for both technical and non-technical job opportunities.
Mr Huzaifa further said that Recrufest will provide students with a platform to develop strong entrepreneurship and interview skills.
Mr Saad Hameed (Training and Placement Officer-General) said that there is a pool of talent in AMU for the visiting HR officials to recruit.
Dr Khurram Nisar and Ms Abiha Ali also spoke on the occasion.
AMU students Mr Dilshad Hashmi and Ms Nisa were awarded for the best startup ideas by BYS Skills Pvt Ltd.
Mr Mansoor Ilahi proposed the vote of thanks.
