24-APR-2019: Workshop held on cases of complex angioplasty
ALIGARH April 24: The Centre of Cardiology, J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University organized a Cath lab workshop on cases of complex angioplasties.
Prof Asif Hasan, Director of the centre informed that Prof D S Gambhir, one of the pioneers in the field of interventional cardiology, former faculty member of G B Pant Hospital, New Delhi and presently at Kailash Hospital at Ghaziabad delivered a talk on Drug Eluting Stents in left main interventions and five cases of complex angioplasty were done with the help of OCT imaging and Rota ablation during the five-day workshop.
Rota ablation is done for hard calcified lesions with the help of diamond burr which cuts through calcified lesions and prepares the coronary bed for stent placement. All cases were done successfully.
Prof Asif Hasan informed that several workshops and extension lectures are planned in near future and also that Centre of Cardiology is now equipped with high end 3-D model of Echo machine and Head Upright Table Test (HUTT) equipment to evaluate the patients with recurrent syncope (loss of conscience or dizziness).
Prof M U Rabbani, Dr M Malik Azharuddin and Dr M Rafi Anwar actively participated in the workshop held with the support of other Cath lab staff.
