02-MAY-2019: Prof Ajay Bahl delivers extension lecture
Aligarh, May 2: Prof Ajay Bahl, a reputed cardiologist from PGI, Chandigarh delivered an extension lecture on 'Cardiomyopathies and treatment options' at the Centre of Cardiology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
He stressed on the underlying genetic predisposition and significance of screening of family members and first degree relatives for this inherited disorder.
Prof Bahl explained that cardiomyopathies are a group of diseases in which primarily muscles of the heart are affected, ultimately leading to heart failure and death.
The lecture was attended by Prof S C Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and other faculty members from various specialities and on the same day a pacemaker interrogation camp was also organised in the OPD (14) complex of JNMC.
Prof Asif Hasan, Director, Centre of Cardiology informed that around 75 patients reported for pacemaker check up and were advised accordingly. "This way, it helps to create awareness in Aligarh district regarding the significance of pacemaker devices and also about the facilities available in Cath Lab of our Centre of Cardiology," he added.
