ALIGARH May 6: The newly constructed and recently inaugurated Begum Azeezun Nisa Hall of residence for girls, Aligarh Muslim University organized its annual function, featuring prize distribution of various literary, cultural and sports events organized over a month under the festival "Aihtifal 2019".
Addressing on the occasion, Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor appreciated the efforts of the Provost, Prof Subuhi Khan and her team in developing residential facilities in the hall in a short time. He said that the construction of this 1500 bedded hall is a big step towards developing residential facilities in the University. He said that University administration is committed to betterment of residential conditions in the University. He congratulated the winners of different events and urged the resident members of the hall to participate in such activities in a large number.
Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof Mohammad Hanif Beg recalled the journey of development of the Hall and said that it has better facilities compared to other Halls of residences.
Mr Abdul Hamid (IPS), Registrar, spoke of the infrastructural facilities of the Hall and encouraged students to utilise these facilities for their all-round development.
Earlier, Prof Subuhi Khan, Provost, welcomed the guests while Senior Hall Monitor, Arifa Bhat presented the annual report and Anam Beg, Senior Literary Monitor, read out the Hall Week Report, compiled by Poonam and Shivani Sharma.
On the occasion, Arisha Zaidi sang a song while Anam Fatima performed a ghazal. Anam Beg read out a critical poem against Islamophobia and Sadia performed a mimicry. Senior Cultural Monitor Alina Siraj, Senior Food Monitors Zeba Nausheen, Hera Rizwan and Fatima Khan along with their team worked hard to make the programme a success. Sara Dilshad and Yusra Khan conducted the programme.
A number of literary and cultural events were organized during the festival including Debate, Self-composed Poetry, Bait Bazi, Essay writing, Film Making, Power Point Presentation, Quiz, Rangoli Making, Painting, Henna Designing, Singing, Mono Acting, Paper Dressing, etc. A theatrical presentation 'Aurat' and a panel discussion was also made.
The sports events were managed by Senior Sports Monitor, Arisha Arif under the guidance of Ms Aziza Rizvi, former Director, Physical Education, Women?s College, while Ms Alisha Ibkar, Warden-In-Charge of literary and cultural events managed and supervised these events in a successful manner.
Noted paediatrician Dr Hameeda Tariq and wardens of the Hall were present on the occasion.
