10-MAY-2019: AMU denies any irregularity in admission process
ALIGARH May 10: Taking a strong notice of allegations of "irregularities in admission process" levelled by the PhD aspirants sitting on Dharna at the main gate of the administrative block, AMU, the Aligarh Muslim University administration has described the allegation false and mischievous.
The University clarified that the admission process was done in a totally transparent manner and strictly as per the ordinances and regulations governing the same and the marks of all PhD aspirants have been notified on the University website with no complaints.
It is further clarified that the seats for admission were notified strictly as per UGC guidelines and offered to available eligible candidates against the notified vacancies.
The agitating aspirants were repeatedly informed in numerous formal and informal meetings about the relevant rules governing PhD admissions but they want an increase in the number of seats for admission which is totally in contravention to the UGC guidelines which specifically direct University to offer admission only on predetermined number of seats.
Some of the aspirants want to be given admission in a specialization different from that in which they had applied and appeared for the admission test, which is again in contravention to the notified rules.
Since the demand of the aspirants to give them admission by breaking all University and UGC rules is not tenable, they continue to sit on Dharna canvassing for the admission.
