21-MAY-2019: AMU Literary and Debating Club enjoys astounding 2018-19 session
Aligarh, May 21: By participating in forums, quiz competitions and debates, hosting of literary festival and other events, the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Literary and Debating Club, Cultural Education Centre got an exceptionally rewarding session of 2018-19.
A major highlight of the session was the LitFest 2019, in which students promoted excellence, creativity and, crucially, critical thinking. The fest was attended by eminent writers, academicians, media personalities and social activists.
With a view to set an exciting and inspiring debate in motion on socially relevant issues, the Literary and Debating Club in collaboration with the AMU Students Union organised the All India Sir Syed Memorial Debate in which 48 teams from 20 different universities participated. The motion of the house in the debate was 'This House Supports Supreme Court's Intervention in Religious Matters'.
The club also organised public speaking programmes, group discussions, quiz, poetry sessions, creative writing competitions performance arts shows and open-mic forums among other events.
University Literary and Debating Club participated in nine national and international debates with its members emerging as either winners or runner-ups on all occasions. The club members won 21 titles during these competitions, said Ansab Amir Khan, Secretary, University Literary and Debating Club.
