28-MAY-2019: ICMR-STS 2019 approves three research proposals
Aligarh, May 28: The department of physiology, J N Medical College, got three research proposals approved by the prestigious ICMR-STS 2019. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) initiated the Short Term Studentship (STS) Programme in order to promote interest and aptitude for research among medical undergraduates.
Three research proposals from the Department of Physiology for this year has been selected; Raina Garg , a MBBS second year student, Supervised by Prof Sangeeta Singhal on her research proposal to study the correlation of body mass index (BMI) and body fat pulmonary function test (PFT's), Faique Rahman ; MBBS first year Student , Supervised by Dr Anwar Hasan Siddiqui on research proposal: Nerve Conduction Velocity and its Correlation with Body Fat Mass in Type 2 Diabetes , another student Piyush Gautam ; MBBS first year, supervised by Dr Ahmad Faraz on research proposal to study the pulmonary functions in patients of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
Every year, many undergraduate students from various colleges of the country apply for this short term research studentship program and it is a matter of pride that students from department of physiology of JNMC, AMU are selected for this prestigious programme.
ICMR short term studentship award carries cash prize of Rs 20,000/- and are awarded to a very few students selected from various medical college across the country.
Chairman, Department of Physiology Dr Sangeeta Singhal congratulated the selected students for their remarkable achievement.
