24-JUN-2019: AMU ranked third best university in the country in India Today's survey
ALIGARH June 24: Despite being portrayed in media for wrong reasons, the Aligarh Muslim University's unflinching commitment to academic excellence and contributing significantly to the collective life of India, has now been recognized and admired both at national and international levels. Recently it figured, for the first time, among 1000 top universities in the world in the ranking released by internationally reputed agency QS and it was ranked second best among the Indian general universities by the US News and World Report and today it has been ranked the third best university by a leading newsmagazine of the country, India Today, in its latest issue.
With the centenary year dawning over its horizons, the Aligarh Muslim University is marching towards getting a position of excellence among the institutions of higher learning in the country. India Today has granted AMU the third position with an overall score of 1,694.5 out of 2000. The University gained a perceptual score of 969.9 out of 1000, which puts it ahead of the University of Hyderabad (UH) that holds the second position in the ranking. AMU also leaves behind the University of Hyderabad in intake quality and governance by getting 167.5 score against the UH' score of 160.5.
India Today has marked the AMU as third best also among the universities with the highest number of patents granted in the past 3 years while it ranks second among the universities with the highest number of PG courses. The AMU offers 78 postgraduate courses.
India Today included more than 900 universities and about 125 institutes of national importance in its survey which puts Jawaharlal Nehru University on the top position while ranking University of Hyderabad and AMU as the second and third best universities respectively.
AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor congratulated the faculty members, research scholars and students on this great achievement and urged them to continue their untiring efforts for high quality education. He urged the faculty members and students to explore new horizons of academic excellence and emerging areas of research.
