Aligarh, July 6: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor today inaugurated the new Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) ICU and Operation Theatre (OT) Complex of the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) here today.
The new complex is a modern, modular OT and ICU with state-of-art equipments worth Rupees three crores funded by Government of India under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) and National Health Mission (NHM).
Congratulating the CTVS department for the development of OT and ICU complex, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Mansoor said that the new complex will provide patients with best treatment options available in surgical care by highly trained teams.
Prof M H Beg, Pro Vice Chancellor pointed out that the new modular OTs will decrease chances of infections during surgery.
Dr M Azam Haseen (Chairman, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery) said that the new complex is a big boon for patients in Uttar Pradesh and nearby states as surgical procedures and treatments in JNMC are for common people.
"We do free-of-cost surgeries under the RBSK scheme in JNMC," said Dr Sumit Pratap Singh.
Prof S C Sharma (Dean, Faculty of Medicine), Prof Haris Manzoor, Prof Fakhrul Huda also spoke on the occasion.
The entire OT staff and faculty from surgical and other departments attended the function.
Earlier today, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Mansoor inaugurated the newly constructed dormitories at the Synthetic Turf Hockey Ground of the University wherein he pointed that more state-of-art facilities are scheduled to be inaugurated.
He informed that a canopy will soon be installed at the Hockey Ground.
Prof Mansoor urged the University Games Committee officers and chalk out fresh sports programmes to attract more and more students towards sports activities.
"It is because of the Vice Chancellor's interest in increasing sports facilities, two new tennis courts and basket ball courts of international standards have also come up in the University," said Prof Syed Amjad Ali Rizvi (Secretary, Games Committee).
Dr Ghulam Sarwar Hashmi (President, Hockey Club) said that the new dormitories can accommodate 100 athletes.
Mr Anees ur Rahman (Deputy Director, Physical Education) and Mr Arshad Mahmood (Assistant Director, Physical Education) welcomed the guests.
Vice Chancellor, Prof Mansoor also inaugurated a newly constructed Computer Lab, cubical chambers for teachers at the Women's College.
Welcoming Prof Mansoor at Women's College; Prof Naima Gulrez (Principal), Prof Masood Anwar Alvi, Prof Shagufta Imtiyaz, Prof Jabir Raza, Prof Saba Beig and Dr Qaiser Jahan said that the new facilities will be hugely beneficial for students and teachers.
