30-JUL-2019: AMU schools observe tree plantation drives
Aligarh, July 30: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) schools organised mass tree plantation drives to observe 'Van Mahotsava' in which tree saplings were planted with other awareness programmes.
Mr Fareed A Siddiqui (Officiating Principal, STS School) with teachers, M Alamgeer, Mr M Adnan khan, Mr M Asim, Mrs Fauzia Faridi and school students 50 trees in the school premises.
STS School teachers spoke about how trees improve air quality and climate amelioration, conserve water, preserve soil and support wildlife in an awareness campaign to inform students on the importance of tree plantation.
The (AMU) ABK High School-Girls organised a 'Plantation Day' in which tree saplings were planted in the school area along with other awareness programmes.
Dr Saba Hasan (Vice Principal, AMU ABK High School-Girls) with senior teachers, Ms Shahana Begum, Ms Kausar Shahab, Ms U N Naznin, Ms Shahnaz, Ms Parveen Siddiqui and school students planted saplings of ornamental plants of different varieties in the school.
Dr Farhat Parveen (Coordinator of the programme) and Mrs Afshan Jaisi (Teacher-in-Charge) spoke on how since time immemorial, trees provided food and oxygen and as the world evolved, trees gave necessities such as shelter, medicine, and tools. Mr Mahtab Ahmad proposed the vote of thanks.
A tree plantation drive was also carried out in the Abdullah School. Ms Umra Zaheer (School Superintendent) with the school staff and students planted saplings all over the school.
