28-AUG-2019: Awareness lecture on 'Intellectual Property Rights' held in AMU
Aligarh, August 28: Mr Sadaf Ali Khan, Assistant Professor at the Glocal Law College, Mirzapur delivered an awareness lecture on 'Intellectual Property Rights' at the University Women's Polytechnic, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in which he delineated exclusive rights to use plans, ideas and other intangible assets through copyrights, patents and trademarks.
In the lecture organised by the Training and Placement Cell of University Women's Polytechnic, Mr Khan emphasised the importance of the protection of human intellect among students and faculty members.
Explaining fundamentals of Intellectual Property Rights, Mr Khan said: "Inventions, creative works, discoveries, designs and concepts are results of human intellect, which need to be protected under appropriate laws."
He highlighted the rights of authors and artists and how books, musical compositions, paintings and computer programs are all protected by copyright law.
Giving concluding remarks, Dr Salma Shaheen, Principal, University Women's Polytechnic pointed out that it is imperative to induce the understanding of human intellect, intellectual property and related rights into people from a young age.
She also proposed the vote of thanks.
Dr Jahangir Alam, Training and Placement Officer, University Women's Polytechnic and Mr Tariq Ahmed, Training and Placement Coordinator also spoke on the occasion.
