28-AUG-2019: AMU faculty, students to walk 10,000 steps as Prime Minister launches 'Fit India Movement'
Aligarh, August 28: The teachers, students and non-teaching staff of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will walk 10,000 steps to mark Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi's launch of 'Fit India Movement' on National Sports Day, August 29.
The walk for Fit India movement will be from University campus to DM's residence. AMU staff and students will also take a resolution to include the walk in their daily routine.
As a part of celebrations, the Department of Physical Education will mark the National Sports Day with the live telecast of Prime Minister administering the 'Fitness Pledge' to the Nation.
Other major events include installation ceremony and march-past, wand demonstration, pyramid formation, aerobics, Yoga display, and assembly on the Athletics Ground among other programmes.
AMU will prepare and implement a fitness plan, incorporate sports, exercise and physical activities in daily routine on campus, as per the latest circular released by the UGC.
