31-AUG-2019: US Embassy Public Diplomacy Officer delivers lecture at Women's College
Aligarh, August 31: Ms Catherine Fischer, North India Public Diplomacy Officer, Embassy of USA delineated the process of developing business models and challenges faced by women entrepreneurs during the extension lecture on 'What is an Entrepreneur?' at the at the Women's College auditorium of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
Sharing personal experiences of hardships when she was trying to set up 'Speakeasy Theatres', restaurant-movie theatres in Oakland and El Cerrito, California; Ms Catherine pointed out that she never gave up and finally succeeded with her business model.
"We should not lose heart during hardships," she said adding that all women have the ability to make their mark.
Speaking on the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES)-2017 and its theme 'Women First, Prosperity for All', she emphasised that the GES Summit provided the environment to empower women innovators for taking up their ideas to the next level.
She also answered queries of Women's College students, who were eager to learn process of designing, launching and running businesses.
Presiding over the function, Prof Naima Khatoon, Principal, Women's College urged the students to become entrepreneurs and job-givers rather job-seekers.
Prof Nazia Hasan proposed the vote of thanks.
