06-SEP-2019: Dept of Microbiology organises CME on 'Specimen Collection'
Aligarh, September 6: Useful deliberations on accurate and rapid identification of micro organisms vital for guiding optimal antimicrobial therapy and improving outcome from infections were made during a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on 'Specimen Collection' organised by the Department of Microbiology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in collaboration with Hospital Infection Society of India (HISI) Aligarh Chapter.
On the occasion, Prof S C Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Medicine said that it is important to have CMEs on a regular basis to be updated with the latest developments in the medical field.
Organising Chairman of the programme, Prof Mohd Shahid stressed the importance of specimen collection and right practices of collecting specimen.
He also discussed cost effective ways and transportation of specimen.
Resource persons Prof Tamkin Khan, Prof Nishat Afroz, Dr Ayesha Ahmad discussed details of specimens related to respiratory tract, wounds, tissue, stool, urine tract and genital tract and their tests.
Dr Shahna Ali delineated investigations and patient confidentiality in specimen collection.
Meanwhile, Prof Haris M Khan, Medical Superintendent distributed prizes to the 'Slogan Writing Competition' winners, Dr Nusrat, Dr Safiya, Dr Afreen and Ms Afaf.
Dr Zainab, Dr Safiya and Dr Uzma won the first, second and third prizes respectively in Quiz Competition.
Dr Hiba Sami conducted the programme, while Dr Fatima Khan extended the vote of thanks.
