11-SEP-2019: AMU Faculty to receive Visitor's Awards 2019 by President of India
Aligarh, September 11: Professor Asad Ullah Khan, Coordinator, Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will be conferred with the Visitor's Awards 2019 by the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, at a function to be organised at the Rashtrapati Bhavan for his work on 'Identifying Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) problem in India: mechanism of spread and control of AMR'.
He will receive the award under the 'Biological Sciences' category.
Congratulating Prof Khan for the award, AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor said that Prof Khan's achievements motivate others to adopt best practices in pursuit of excellence. His name was recommended for the award by the Vice Chancellor.
Recognized nationally and internationally for contributions in countering the problem of anti-microbial resistance for over a decade; Prof Khan has developed technology which proved to control infection caused by multi-drug resistant bacteria and several drug molecules which are still in experimental stage.
He was earlier elected as a member of European Commission and UK Academy of Medical Sciences to work on AMR problem in India.
Prof Khan is a also a recipient of the National Bioscience Award of the Government of India, DBT Crest Award and Wockhardt Excellence Award among other honours.
