14-SEP-2019: AMU starts week-long Hindi Diwas celebrations
Aligarh, September 15: To mark Hindi Diwas, the day when India's Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi as the official language; the Official Language (Hindi) Implementation Committee, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) today started its week-long celebrations with the inaugural function at the Department of Hindi.
Presiding over the function, AMU Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof Akhtar Haseeb pointed out that there is a growing presence of Hindi language in the science, agriculture and technical fields.
He added that all languages have rich literatures and beautiful dictions and it is our duty to popularize Hindi in all parts of the Country.
In his keynote address on 'Hamara Samay Aur Hindi', eminent novelist and scribe, Mr Pankaj Bisht delineated present and past of Hindi language and its literature.
Prof Masood Anwar Alvi, Dean, Faculty of Arts said that Hindi Diwas is celebrated across the country with cultural and literary programmes.
Prof Ramesh Chand, Secretary, Official Language (Hindi) Implementation Committee and Chairperson, Department of Hindi delivered the welcome address.
Prof Pankaj Parashar conducted the programme and read the message of Honorable Minister of Human Resource Development; Sri Ramesh Pokhriyal, which he delivered on Hindi Diwas celebration, citing its relevance.
Prof Devendra Kumar Gupta extended the vote of thanks.
Meanwhile, Hindi Diwas was also observed at various AMU schools.
