16-SEP-2019: Faculty of Law concludes Induction Program
Aligarh, September 16: The Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organised a week-long "Induction Program" for the newly admitted students in which the first-year students were taught about the importance of their course, the history of AMU founder Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, faculty and the University.
Presiding over the concluding session, Prof. Shakeel Ahmed Samdani, Dean, Faculty of Law said that during the induction program, the teachers from the Faculty of Law and other faculties delivered lectures on various topics. The students also participated with great enthusiasm.
Speaking on Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Prof. Samdani said that after the revolt of 1857, Sir Syed realized that modern education could help Indians. So, after returning from England, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan established the MAO College. He further told the students in detail about the transformation of MAO College to Aligarh Muslim University. He advised the students to follow the ideals of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan if they want to achieve success in their life. He also said that the doors of AMU are open for everyone irrespective of their religion, caste, sex or colour. He exhorted the students that there is no substitute of hard work and during their stay, they have to make every effort in the right direction for their better future.
Prof. Mohd. Naved Khan, Deputy Proctor explained the Code of Conduct in the university. He said that the Proctorial team is ready to help each and every student inside as well as outside the university. He advised the students to keep their identity cards with them, so that in case of any mishappenig the proctorial team can help them. He gave detailed information about the services which the proctorial team provides to the students. Dr. Dastgir Alam, Assistant DSW, gave detailed information about the scholarships for the students.
Prof. Javaid Talib, Chairman, Department of Law said that the Faculty of Law has contributed a lot in the judicial services of the country. He advised the students to take part in extra-curricular activities apart from their academic schedule.
Prof. Mohd. Tariq explained the examination and promotion rules of the faculty and Dr. Zeba Azmat presented a report of the induction program. Mr. Adnan Zaidi conducted the program and Mr. Abdullah Samdani proposed vote of thanks. The program was started by the recitation of the verses from the Holy Quran by Mr. Taufiq and was concluded by university tarana followed by the national anthem. Prof. Najmul Islam, Secretary, AMUTA was also present in the program.
