21-SEP-2019: Dept of Surgery starts two-day CME
Aligarh, September 22: The Department of Surgery, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) today started a two-day Midterm CME of the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA), India 2019 on 'Gallbladder and Biliary Diseases' in which renowned surgical and non-surgical specialists from all over the country will provide the participants with hands-on-training.
Attending the inaugural function as the Chief-Guest, AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor pointed out that since benign and malignant diseases of liver, pancreas and gallbladder have become focus of surgeons, CMEs like these have become of utmost importance.
In this CME, the participants will have an excellent opportunity to learn ways of treatment and care with a focus on best possible outcomes and improved quality life of patients, said the Vice Chancellor.
He urged the surgery students to go for advance training in renowned centres of Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and other metropolitans.
AMU Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof Akhtar Haseeb and Prof S C Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Medicine were also present on the occasion.
Dr Sanjay Govil, President elect of IHPBA, India praised JNMC surgeons Dr Wasif Mohammad Ali, Joint Organising Secretary of the CME and Dr Mohd Sadik Akhtar, Treasurer, for bringing the CME programme to JNMC.
"I hope that JNMC will soon host a larger conference of IHPBA," he added.
Dr T D Yadav, Hony Secretary of IHPBA emphasised that IHPBA seeks advanced research to lead the way for heightened awareness and understanding of gall bladder and billiary diseases among community physicians, allied health professionals, patients, families and the general public.
Prof Syed Amjad Ali Rizvi, Organising Secretary of the programme and Chairman, Department of Surgery proposed the vote of thanks, while Organising Chairman, Prof Mohammad Habib Raza, delivered the welcome address.
Dr Samiran Nundy, Dr Avinash Supe, Dr T D Yadav, Dr Chetan V Kantharia, Dr Sanjay Govil, Prof Namish Mehta, Dr Ashwini Kumar Kudari, Dr Anil K Agarwal, Prof S D Maurya, Prof M Ibrarullah, Prof Anil Arora, Dr Azhar Perwaiz, Prof Abhinav Sonkar, Dr Sujoy Pal, Dr Amit Shrivastava, Prof Sanjay Singh Negi, Prof Vikas Gupta, Dr Shailendra Lalwani, Prof S H Harris, Prof A Z Rab, Dr Harjeet, Dr Mohsin Khan and Dr Mehtab Ahmad are scheduled to give deliberations in the two-day CME.
