26-SEP-2019: 'Mentoring and Career Counselling' symposium and workshop for medical teachers held in AMU
Aligarh, September 26: Faculty of Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organised a one-day 'Mentoring and Career Counselling' symposium and workshop in which over 50 medical teachers were guided how to mentor students and develop career consciousness in them.
Welcoming the participants to the programme, Prof S C Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Medicine said that in this symposium and workshop, mentors will get the opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills and mentees will receive career guidance.
Prof Mobarak Hossain, Coordinator of the programme briefed the objective of the symposium cum workshop and said that it will be a learning aid for mentors who wish to be refreshed on the basics of mentoring.
On the occasion, Prof Akbar Husain (Dean Faculty of Social Sciences), Prof Sajid Jamal, Prof R K Gaur, Prof Rakesh Bhargav and Dr Saira Mehnaz spoke on the importance of mentoring of mentees. Mentoring is a relationship between two people with the goal of professional and personal development and it is a continuous process, they added.
Mentoring and career counselling was performed by Dr Sadia Saeed, Dr Adil and Dr Akram emphasising 'know yourself and reach your goal. '
