27-SEP-2019: Retired AMU faculty in 'Highly Cited Researchers List'
Aligarh, September 27: Retired faculty member of the Department of Mathematics, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Professor Mohammad Mursaleen has been squarely placed in the prestigious 'Highly Cited Researchers List' released by the Web of Science Group of Clarivate Analytics for his significant influence through publication of multiple highly cited papers.
With 7646 citations h-index 48, Prof Mursaleen is among 10 most influential researchers from India in the 'Highly Cited Researchers List' as determined by their peers around the globe - those who have consistently won recognition in the form of high citation counts over a decade. The Web of Science Group has placed Prof Mursaleen in the top one percent of high-impact researchers, whose contributions to academia have been extremely influential and transformative.
He is renowned for pioneering work in the mathematical areas of functional analysis, real analysis, sequence spaces, summability theory, fuzzy metric spaces, measures of noncompactness, Fourier, Walsh-Fourier series and Wavelets, stability of functional equations, fixed point theory, approximation theory and differential and integral equations.
Prof Mursaleen, who is currently working on Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) Core Research Project of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India (GoI) has published 300 research papers in reputed international and national journals and authored eight books. He has also written chapters for a number of books.
Prof Mursaleen is acknowledged as a highly cited researcher not only by Web of Science, but also by Google Scholar, Scopus, MathSciNet and Research Gate.
He has supervised 20 PhD students
Prof Mursaleen wrote thesis on 'Infinite Matrices and Invariant Means' during his PhD in Mathematics from AMU, which were submitted in 1979. He also did his BSc, MSc and MPhil from AMU.
Prof Mursaleen received the Outstanding Faculty Research Award for the Year-2018 by Careers360 by then HRD Minister, Mr Prakash Javadekar. SciVal of Elsevier identified him as the most cited author of AMU in 2014 and as the second most cited author in 2013. He is also a recipient of Outstanding Researcher of the Year-2014 in AMU.
