30-SEP-2019: ZHCET students design hybrid electric vehicle
Aligarh, September 30: In what could offer a solution to the vehicle pollution that is touching alarming levels, ten BTech students of the Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have designed a three-wheeled hybrid electric vehicle named Albatross, 'Efficycle 7.0', which can also run through muscle power.
Prof M M Sufyan Beg, Principal, ZHCET unveiled the vehicle during a special ceremony at the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Albatross, 'Efficycle 7.0' will represent AMU in the upcoming SAE India event at the Lovely Professional University, in which student teams from engineering colleges across the country will participate.
Prof Sufyan Beg and Prof Mirza Faisal S Baig also enjoyed test drives of the vehicle after the inauguration.
"Shubham Varshney is the design head of the vehicle, while the steering and the modified wheels were developed by Vaibhav Sharma and Vedang Sharma. Hira Khan designed and assembled the vehicle suspension and Imbesatur Rahman installed the brakes. Chanderjeet Singh, Emad Khan, Shivam Gupta and Chanchal Attri are other the team members, who designed the Albatross, 'Efficycle 7.0'," said team member and Captain of Team Green Warriors, AMU, M Saifuddin Ansari.
Explaining features of the vehicle, Dr Syed Fahad Anwer, Faculty Advisor of SAE ZHCET, a collegiate club of Mechanical Engineering in the University pointed out that the concept of electric vehicle is gaining ground and in the context, Albatross with a combination of electric motor and muscle power sources will assume significance.
