03-OCT-2019: Department of Amraz-e-Niswan-wa-Atfal concludes CME
Aligarh, October 3: The Department of Amraz-e-Niswan-wa-Atfal, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College (AKTC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) concluded a six-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme for Unani medicine teachers in which resource persons delineated paediatrics and gynaecology issues.
Prof Kamran Afzal, Department of Paediatrics, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) and Prof Tamkin Khan, Chairperson, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, JNMC delivered a lecture on 'Protein Energy Malnutrition and Antenatal Care' in which they discussed how balanced energy and protein supplementation improves fetal growth, and may reduce the risk of still-birth and low-birth-weight infants.
Dr Anita Gupta, Chief Medical Officer, Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital, New Delhi discussed issues related to breast feeding with audio-visual demonstrations.
Dr Ravi Sachan, Division of Neonatology, Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital, New Delhi delineated Neonatal Resuscitation of Apnoeic infants with demonstrations. He threw light on proper ways resuscitation such as providing warmth by placing the infant under a radiant heat source, position the head in a 'sniffing' position to open the airway, clearing the airway with a bulb syringe or suction catheter, dry the infant and stimulate breathing.
Prof Asia Sultana, Department of Ilaj Bit Tadbeer, AMU and Dr Arish M K Sherwani, Department of Tahaffuzi-wa-Samaji Tib, NIUM, Bengaluru delivered lecture and demonstration on 'Gender Equity in Clinical Trials and Role of Unani Adjuvants in Tuberculosis and HIV Co-infection'.
Prof S Manazir Ali and Dr Fahmida Kausar elaborated on the topics, 'HIV/AIDS Prevention, Diagnosis, Management' and Post-Partum Haemorrhage and its Unani management respectively.
Dr Ismath Shameem and Dr Kausar F Firdaus discussed 'Menstrual Irregularities' and 'Diagnostic Procedure/ investigations in Gynaecology' respectively in their lectures and demonstrations.
Prof Nafees Bano and Prof Rafi Ahmed Chaudhry dealt with the topics, 'Children with Special Needs-The responsibility of an Obstetrician' and 'Importance of Re-Orientation Programme' on the last day of the CME.
Prof Syeda Aamena Naaz, Chairperson, Department of Amraz-e-Niswan-wa-Atfal delivered the welcome address.
