22-OCT-2019: Dept of Arabic concludes Deeksharambh program
Aligarh, October 22: In line with the mandates set by the University Grants Commission (UGC); the Department of Arabic, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) concluded its Deeksharambh (Induction-cum-Orientation) program in which newly admitted students and research scholars were made familiar with their new surroundings, prior to the commencement of their regular classes and apprised with the expectations from them.
"New students interacted with resource persons in special sessions during the programme, which has been very beneficial for them to understand the culture of the Department and to develop meaningful relationships and networks with their teachers and seniors," said Prof Faizan Ahmad, Chairman, Department of Arabic.
Prof Muhammad Azhar, Department of West Asian and North African Studies spoke on the relevance of Arabic language in the contemporary world, while shedding light on career opportunities.
Prof Mohammad Faizan Beg delineated importance and utility of all the curriculum modules.
Prof Sanaullah Khan informed the new students about the history of the Department of Arabic and AMU.
Dr Abdul Majid Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Islamic Studies urged students to develop synergy between academic and life goals.
Speaking on the Deeksharambh initiative, Dr Syed Ali Hur Kamoonpuri, Coordinator, Deeksharambh SIP discussed the program design, assignments, projects, attendance, exams and the marking scheme.
